Harry Manx : West Eats Meet (2004)
More bully-boy tactics by Merkin Big Tobacco:
The Guardian reports that Alec, the US free market group funded by big tobacco and other corporate interests, is trying to halt sales of cigarettes in plain packets in UK. I wish you would just stay home and play with your little Tea Party friends! |
Today’s album of the day is (Just Another Band From East LA) by Los Lobos del Este de Los Angeles
Before they were just Los Lobos, and nearly a decade before they gave us the brilliant soundtrack music to La Bamba and Desperado, these guys issued this album of traditional Tex-Mex songs. The Youtube link gives all the songs to you, along with some commentary. |
Today’s album of the day is Well Respected Kinks by The Kinks
A compilation of the hit singles from 1964 and 1965, this album avoids the sometimes dire R&B cover versions on their earlier albums. Once they hit their stride with their own sound, mostly written by leader Ray Davies, they were a truly English band – especially after the American Federation of Musicians refused permits for the group to appear in concerts in the USA from mid 1965 through mid 1969, supposedly because of their often wild onstage behaviour.
