Album of the Day:
Michael Kaeshammer – No Strings Attached (2000)

I first saw Michael Kaeshammer fifteen or so years ago at a recording of CBC Radio’s The Vinyl Cafe in the auditoriom of OSCVI here in Owen Sound. The other musical guest was Harry Manx, so it was a double delight.

After 7 years of classical piano study, Michael discovered Boogie-Woogie and Stride piano when he was 13. Originally from Germany, he moved to Canada with his family in the mid ’90s.

In this, his 3rd album release, he manages to cover most styles of jazz piano from Albert Ammons, Scott Joplin, Thelonious Monk, Mose Allison, Dr. John, Les McCann, and other pianists
